Compassionate Counselling for Women of Vancouver, BC & the Lower Mainland

Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Lives

The Lower Mainland is rich in diversity and lots of us find ourselves being part of many different cultural groups at the same time. I will support you in exploring your identity, finding your own meaning and values, and discovering where your next steps lie. It can be helpful to have a neutral person such as myself, supporting you while you are choosing what you identify with and what no longer fits.

Balancing and integrating these identities can help us accept and celebrate the diversity inside us.

I have become familiar with many different cultures, especially Vancouver’s LGTB Community. I have a certificate in Women’s Studies and my first counselling practicum was at Qmunity: BC’s Queer Resource Centre. I never assume that being LGBT is “the problem.” Many of my clients simply want to find a counsellor who makes no assumptions and is totally accepting with however they identify themselves. We can work on LGBT concerns specifically, or other issues simply acknowledging that this is the backdrop to your life.

I have experience working with people who identify as:

• Lesbian
• Queer
• Bisexual
• Two-spirited
• Transgender
• Undefined sexual orientation
• Undefined Gender Identity (Gender Queer, Androgyny…)
• Heterosexual

I might be the right support person for you if you are dealing with:

Coming out issues…

• Questioning your sexual identity

• Feeling that you have no one to talk to who might understand

• Feeling that your sexuality orientation has to be defined

• Feeling a lack of support from family and friends or your community

General feelings of…

• Depression

• Shame and guilt

A spiritual crisis related to sexual identity…

• A religious conflict around sexuality

• A spiritual struggle around your relationship with a higher power
